  • The phrase "We must never forget" has been used by some people I know to justify bigotry against American Muslims. We must also never forget that the extremist wackos that perpetrated this crime do not represent Islam. Statements equating Islam with these nutcases are like saying Tim McVeigh represents all Christians or Hitler represented all Catholics. Clearly these extremist terrorists do not represent the views of their religions, and Islamic leaders int he US have gone to great pains to point this out, only to be confronted with bigotry once again. Islam is misrepresented as a violent religion because of the misdeeds of a few nutcases. One could just as well misrepresent Catholicism as violent because of the Inquisition, a regrettable history that stains the great good that religion has done in the world. I work with several Muslims - Proud US Citizens all - that feel the bite of bigotry every day, and are as appalled at the horrible actions of 18 crazy men as you and I. Please treat these loyal American Citizens with the respect they deserve, while we mourn those who died needlessly on Sept 11.

  • That was the worse tragety we people in America have ever experienced-during my 68 years. It was parallel to JFK's murder. I remember exactly how it impacted me at first awareness. It was shocking and I felt anger, frustration and unable to lash out against this cowardly act. After-- I remembered my experience with Mike at a day in NYC and one of the towers. What a differance of events! That must be at least 30 years ago! Does'nt time fly! On 9/11 I was wiring the Mohican Casino in Connecticut and my partner was going to punch out and drive to NY to --?

  • Horrific as this was, those of us who have studied Islam, understand that this act was a total violation of everything that Muhammad taught. We should not attribute this act to Islam, anymore than the tarring and feathering of the Blacks in the South, could be attributed to the Teachings of Christ. If you study Islam, you will understand that Muhammad was one of the Divine Revelators, that He brought a Book which is a mine, a Treasury, of Divine knowledge. and that the Koran is an authentic collection of the Words of His Revelation. It's unfortunate that it's not well known in the West. If you read the Koran no one will need to tell you the source of that wondrous inspiration. To impute the acts of 9/11 in any way with the religion of Islam, reveals the total and gross ignorance of the originator. The Arab tribes to whom Muhammad appeared were in the lowest depths of savagery and barbarism, compared to whom the savages of Africa and the wild Indians of America were as advanced as a Plato. The savages of America did not bury their children alive as did these Arabs their daughters. They were idolators, who were perpetually warring and fighting, killing one another and devastating each other's property, capturing women and children whom they would sell to strangers. They could have endless numbers of wives. Muhammad single handedly civilized these people, raised women up from chattal and created the idea of nationhood with laws and treaties. Muhammad never fought against the Christians whom He treated kindly and gave perfect freedom. The Jews and Christians he termed the people of the Book. Of them He said, "If anyone infringes their rights, I Myself will be their enemy, and in the presence of God I will bring a charge against him." In the edicts which He promulgated it is clearly stated that the lives, properties and honor of the Christians and Jews are under the protection of God, and that if a Muhammadan married a Christian woman, the husband must not prevent her from going to church, nor oblige her to veil herself, and that if she died, he must place her remains in the care of the Christian clergy. He did His utmost to create love and brotherhood between His followers and the people of the Book. The Enlightener and Educator of these Arab tribes, and the Founder of the civilization and perfections of humanity among these different races, was an illiterate Man, Muhammad. One more point, the concept of jihad means to war against your ego, the self, it's a spiritual battle all of us humans should undertake. It has absolutely nothing to do with killing other human beings. To believe otherwise is an aberration of the interpretation of Muhammad's teachings and a gross display of ignorance.

  • This was a day we all will never forget, not only for the loss of life but for the realization that our Military and Government was caught completely off guard. I still to this day find it hard to believe how many indicators were missed or ignored. I still find it hard to believe that the country with the biggest military in the world did not have one fighter jet ready and armed for any type of attack and had to put planes in the air with no missles on board to save time, and then when they did get in the air, send them out over the atlantic. No one even knew who had the authorization to shoot an airliner down for over two hours. I wish I could believe that things have changed but I don't. Don't get me wrong, I love our military and what they do. It is the ones in charge that were caught off guard and had no idea what was going on or how to react. The most amazing thing after that happened that day not one person took blame for anything, not one person was removed from their job, not one perwson lost a days pay for the biggest failure in our history of our intelligence and military security. The only m en who did their jobs that day and will never be forgotten are the police and fire fighters who gave tieir lives that day, they are the onnes I will never forget.

  • This was an act of hate towards the American people. We should never forget who don't this to our country and families. God Bless America I think if you want to live in America you should speak our language and respect our religion. If you can not do this please go home. Don't burn our flag or hang yours in America. This is our country and we love it. You have destroyed your country and now you want to destroy ours. I don't think so. We as Americans need to stand up against these people and take up for America. Put God back in our schools and public buildings and see how this would affect our country. It was great when we had God in our buildings. Pray for our country and families. Thanks, Charlie

  • I will always remember where I was and how angry and frustrated at the senselessness of that day. I agree that not all Muslims are terrorists, BUT, all of the terrorists are Muslim and continue to use their religion to further terror, intimidate non Muslims and recruit new terrorists. No one but the Muslim religious members as a whole can fix this as is shown by the vast amount of American heroes who have selflessly given their lives for this cause. If it is such a small group of Muslims who hate so much that killing innocent non believers is serving their god, the only people who can right this is Muslim believers in peace and it's long overdue to start cleaning their own house, no one else can accomplish this.

  • Yes, we must never forget and as a christian I do pray for the blessing of America. We all ask GOD for things to go our way. How often do we go to prayer just to wash him with our worship not looking for anything in return. As the Bible states He made man for his pleasure. I do have tolerance for other religions. If you read in the bible about Solomon you will find that he married many wives and built many temples of different religions. This displeased GOD. GOD loved Soloman and told him he would not pay for the Temples he allowed to be built but instead he would make his son's pay.GOD not me our you makes the rules he has no tolerance for other religions according to the bible. So my question is, where does that leave us? GOD allowed Isreal to be defeated many times for turning away from him and worshipping of other gods. So agian where does that leave us. Again I pray for America, the hurt that still in our hearts & minds from 9/11. But really look deep into yourself and see your approach to GOD and determine if our prayers are worthy of his attention.

  • This is America. Yes we should recognize freedom of religion; but we do not need a mosque built where the towers fell. A monument should be built beside any other structure constructed to remember the 2996 people that lost there lives, many trying to save someone else.

  • The United States should never forget 9-11-01 just as we should never forget all the other times Americans have died over cowardly acts of others. Yes we are in a holy war and it should be treated as such. We have laws to deal with other radical groups, (KKK, Black Panthers ect.), and any organizations that thinks it is good to kill infidels, (US Citizens and christians), should be considered as a radical group and should be dealed with as such. Islam may have started out as a religion?, but has turned into a Political Movement. Americans need to come together and stand up for our freedom, this is what so many died for and are still dying for today. To close, all I can say is, "Our Father in heaven please Bless America and please help us through these troubling times ,In Jesus Name AMEN

  • As an American veteran I join my voice with those who remember and mourn those who died on 9/11.

As an electrical engineer I have done a number of projects and spent considerable time in the Middle East including in several areas in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the Emirates, Egypt and other countries in the region, and for the purpose of understanding the work environment I have also studied Islam, its history and the Quran.

I have a different view than Mr. Schreiber's. The total freedom of other religions who were/are under Muslim rule to which he refers is only as dhimmis, that is as second class people who have to pay tribute and homage to the Muslim rulers, are discriminated against, and have practically no rights. And insofar as the Quran is concerned, I suggest Mr. Schreiber read Sura 5. Permit me a small citation: "O, you who believe! do not take the Jews and Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the unjust people." Sura 5:51. In Muslim lands America is perceived as weak. And they are using our own freedoms to achieve their purposes, even right here in the USA. They have already come a long way in Europe where the percentage of Muslims in the population is significantly higher than in the US. There are areas in the UK where Sharia already prevails for muslims. As the percentage of muslims in the population increases their voices and demands get louder. Look at what is happening in France, the UK, Netherlands and Belgium, among others. We're not that far behind. Already the slaps in the western face are administered. The planned mosque near the 9/11 site, is termed the Cordoba project. For those of you who may not be familiar with Islamic history, when the Muslims invaded Spain and conquered Cordoba, they tore down a church and erected a mosque on that site. They did that in every country they could. Look at the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem, built over the remains of the holy temple of the Jews, and so on. Just using the name "Cordoba" project is the equivalent of a fist-pump, understood by every muslim. Many of you may not know that in Saudi Arabia no religion other than Islam is allowed to be practiced, no church or synagogue is allowed to be built - anywhere, and no religious symbols of any religion other than Islam is allowed to be displayed. When I worked there I had to remove the chain with the cross from my neck when I entered the country because if it had been discovered I would not have been allowed in. I put it back on after passing immigration but had it been seen anytime I was in the country I would have been expelled. Tell me again about tolerant Islam Lastly, I suggest to Mr. Schreiber that he review the Muslim principle of Taqqiyah before reaching his benevolent and peaceful conclusions concerning so-called "moderate'' muslims. I also reccomend he review the Muslim world views of Dar al-Islam and Dar al-Harb. This forum is not the right place for such a debate but I could not remain silent having read what I did. I for one will not sit still and allow my country to be subjugated by a totally intolerant creed that will stop at nothing to impose itself.
