  • As an American veteran I join my voice with those who remember and mourn those who died on 9/11.

As an electrical engineer I have done a number of projects and spent considerable time in the Middle East including in several areas in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the Emirates, Egypt and other countries in the region, and for the purpose of understanding the work environment I have also studied Islam, its history and the Quran.

I have a different view than Mr. Schreiber's. The total freedom of other religions who were/are under Muslim rule to which he refers is only as dhimmis, that is as second class people who have to pay tribute and homage to the Muslim rulers, are discriminated against, and have practically no rights. And insofar as the Quran is concerned, I suggest Mr. Schreiber read Sura 5. Permit me a small citation: "O, you who believe! do not take the Jews and Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the unjust people." Sura 5:51. In Muslim lands America is perceived as weak. And they are using our own freedoms to achieve their purposes, even right here in the USA. They have already come a long way in Europe where the percentage of Muslims in the population is significantly higher than in the US. There are areas in the UK where Sharia already prevails for muslims. As the percentage of muslims in the population increases their voices and demands get louder. Look at what is happening in France, the UK, Netherlands and Belgium, among others. We're not that far behind. Already the slaps in the western face are administered. The planned mosque near the 9/11 site, is termed the Cordoba project. For those of you who may not be familiar with Islamic history, when the Muslims invaded Spain and conquered Cordoba, they tore down a church and erected a mosque on that site. They did that in every country they could. Look at the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem, built over the remains of the holy temple of the Jews, and so on. Just using the name "Cordoba" project is the equivalent of a fist-pump, understood by every muslim. Many of you may not know that in Saudi Arabia no religion other than Islam is allowed to be practiced, no church or synagogue is allowed to be built - anywhere, and no religious symbols of any religion other than Islam is allowed to be displayed. When I worked there I had to remove the chain with the cross from my neck when I entered the country because if it had been discovered I would not have been allowed in. I put it back on after passing immigration but had it been seen anytime I was in the country I would have been expelled. Tell me again about tolerant Islam Lastly, I suggest to Mr. Schreiber that he review the Muslim principle of Taqqiyah before reaching his benevolent and peaceful conclusions concerning so-called "moderate'' muslims. I also reccomend he review the Muslim world views of Dar al-Islam and Dar al-Harb. This forum is not the right place for such a debate but I could not remain silent having read what I did. I for one will not sit still and allow my country to be subjugated by a totally intolerant creed that will stop at nothing to impose itself.

    Heinz R.
