Mike Holt Enterprises Understanding the NEC

Keeping up with the requirements of the Code should be the goal of everyone involved in electrical safety. The following is what I feel is an important rule in the 2020 NEC®, complete with graphics and a video. I encourage you to use it as a training resource for your organization, and share it with your colleagues.

How do you properly ground a building's solar photovoltaic (PV) system? There are many myths, but it's not as difficult as you might think. In fact, you might be surprised when you learn just how simple it is to follow the NEC requirements for grounding such PV systems.

Take a moment to read the text and watch the video where Mike and the PV team explain the role the grounding electrode system plays in NEC Section 690.47 Buildings or Structures Supporting a PV System.

  • Would this be the same when using a line side tap for the solar system instead of being breaker feed like in your demonstration?
