Mike Holt Enterprises Understanding the NEC

Keeping up with the requirements of the Code should be the goal of everyone involved in electrical safety. Following is what I feel is an important rule in the 2020 NEC®, complete with graphics and a video. I encourage you to use it as a training resource for your organization, and share it with your colleagues.

You may have noticed that when it comes to the National Electrical Code, some Articles are a bit more complex and not as easily understood as many of the others. Fortunately, there's a Scope at the beginning of each article that is intended to give you some insight as to what is covered in that article. Article 725”Remote-Control, Signaling, and Power-Limited Circuits is no exception. However, the scope of this article, may just leave you with more questions than answers! Even the title of Article 725 itself requires an understanding of the definitions of the terms used, let alone what defines a Class 1, 2, or 3 circuit.

In order to really understand the installation rules for Class 1, 2, and 3 circuits, you need to take the time to read the text, review the graphics, and watch the video as a panel of industry experts explains not only some of the terminology, but also what distinguishes these types of circuits from each other.
