Keeping up with the requirements of the Code should be the goal of
everyone involved in electrical safety. Following is what I feel is an
important rule in the 2020 NEC®, complete with
graphics and a video. I encourage you to use it as a training resource for
your organization, and share it with your colleagues.
Neutral Conductor, Bonding Conductors, and Bonding Jumpers [250.102(C)(1)] |
The content below is extracted from
Mike Holt's Understanding NEC Requirements for Bonding and Grounding, based on the 2020 NEC.

Article 250 of the NEC is perhaps the most misapplied, misinterpreted, and violated article in the Code. The terminology used in this article has been a source of much confusion. Bonding jumper, main bonding jumper, system bonding jumper, supply-side bonding jumper. What are these? How do they differ? How are they sized? So many questions! It's no wonder people get confused!
For clarity and a better understanding of this section of the Code, take a minute or two to watch the video and then spend all of the time you need to read through and study the text, graphics, and examples for correctly sizing neutral and bonding conductors, and bonding jumpers to help ensure that your installation is compliant.
