Part of Mike Holt’s success is ensuring that whenever possible, he strives for 8 hours of sleep a night. He reminds us that no athlete would ever consider performing without having had enough sleep - it’s as important as their diet and exercise routine in achieving peak performance; and we are all athletes in our own life. If you think that the harder you work, the more hours you put in, the more successful you will be you’re underestimating the effect of lack of sleep on your health, mood, personality, safety and decision-making.
This is a reminder to recognize that you need to change your priorities. The idea of making New Year Resolutions might be overplayed, but this is one that you should commit to. Getting enough sleep every night will change your life. In addition to keeping you and those around you safe at work and on the road, you’ll perform at your highest level, have better relationships, better health, make better decisions, and achieve your highest success.
