We take the security of your information seriously and want to help you stay safe. This situation is something that reminds us all that staying safe online is a continuous process. Here are a few tips that our office adheres to and may be of help:
- Never click a link or open an attachment from someone that you don't know or aren't expecting.
- Never trust an online appeal for help from someone you don't personally know, If you receive an email, text, or social media message from anyone that you were not expecting don't respond to it. It may be a scam. If they know you they will contact you personally. If you see something from someone you know that is not typical, check with them directly before clicking on any links.
- Always run a name brand Internet Security/Antivirus/Firewall software on your machine. This is a vital layer of protection that can help keep you safe. Many of these scams are known to the security community.
- Try to use a good password that's easy for you to remember but difficult to guess by looking you up on social media.
- Hide your personal information on social media sites. Many sites, like FaceBook, allow you to restrict what information is shared on your public profile. Make sure you check these to prevent unwanted sharing of your personal information.
Be Safe,
The Tech Team at Mike Holt Enterprises
