We at Mike Holt Enterprises try to provide as much as we can to the industry at no charge. For this reason we’ve created a free Swimming Pools, Spas, Hot Tubs, Fountains, and Similar Installations booklet. The material in this booklet was extracted from Mike's Understanding the 2008 NEC, Volume 2 textbook.

Because of its size, we made it available to you in 2 parts. These parts are available for you to download separately if your computer has restrictions on file size:
Scope of Part 1 of 2 – Articles 680.1 – 680.25
Scope of Part 2 of 2 – Articles 680.26 – 680.74

Click here or on the image to download the complete pdf. Please note that the file is 24 pages, and 5.14MB and may take a few minutes to download depending on your internet connection speed. If you encounter a problem opening this file, be sure you have the latest version of Adobe Acrobat installed on your system (click here).

  • MIKE I HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT TWO METAL CONDUITS ATTACHED TO A APPROVED POOL LIGHT J BOX. WE HAVE PVC CONDUITE FROM THE PVC LIGHT FORMING SHELL WITH #8 INSOLATED WIRE AND THE ELECTRICIAN HAS PVC CONDUIT TO THE SWITCH. YOUR COMMENTS STATED THAT TWO METAL CONDUITS MUST SUPPORT THE J BOX. WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO CORRECT THIS. THIS SITE IS GREAT THANKS, MIKE

Good question Mike. Watching for answer. Supporting metal or PVC "J" box with metal or PVC conduit? Have not built pool in over three years. Seem to recall we enclosed the #8 ground inside conduit all the way back thru "J" box to ground at load center with PVC conduit and "J" box?

How is new house project moving? Keep me posted if needed.
