Just In Case – Auto Safety Kit
Mike,
Last Friday I had to run an errand. I got about a half of a mile from my house when a fellow beeped his horn at me and, pulling alongside, he yelled that I had a flat tire. I pulled over and checked and, sure enough, my right rear tire was flat!
Fortunately, the bead had not yet broken AND I had a portable air compressor in the trunk. Ten minutes later, I was back on the road heading for the local tire store. Within an hour I was good to go and completed my errand.
Here's the point: If I had not had that compressor, I would have had to
A. Change the tire, mounting the spare - a BIG hassle
B. Call a tow truck - BIGGER hassle, expensive and time consuming
If I were wearing a suit, had been a woman wearing a nice out fit, or been an elderly person, things would have been even worse. It's very dangerous trying to change a tire on a freeway and even on some busy residential streets.
BTW: While I was waiting for the tire store to do its thing, a clerk in an office supply store told me she had the same thing happen to her and didn't pull over until she heard the rim scraping the pavement - at 60 MPH! Talk about dangerous! The suspensions on late model cars work too well sometimes.

Mike Holt’s Response: After reading Pat’s email I decided to purchase a Just in Case - Auto Safety Kit for each of my employees and family members (I have seven adult kids that drive). In the few weeks that we have had the safety kit I myself and Sean (our shipping administrator) have run into situations where we’ve had to use our kit (Me – jumper cables and Sean - portable air compressors).
Response from Sean (shipping administrator): Mike, thank you for the road side emergency package you gave me. One week before you set me up with the kit I had a blow out. I changed my tire and drove about 25 yards where I hit another piece of debris and blew out my spare.
Last weekend I purchased 4 new tires for the truck. When I left work this evening I realized I had a flat rear tire, I had run over a nail and over the course of the day it had gone completely flat. Now, I would have been in deep trouble if it wasn’t for the new air compressor you gave me.
