I've come across several of these. I don't recall if they were the Eagle brand or if they were made in China but in all cases they were installed in an exterior location. That leads me to think that it was a moisture problem that caused this defect. As far as the device being made outside the USA, and contrary to what we'd like to believe, many are anyway even though they have an American brand name. You can try contacting the manufacturer but unless they have an abundance of complaints regarding these defective units I think it will fall on deaf ears. Phil Bufis, Gold Star Electric
