Twitter and the NEC - Part 3

Image1
Mike, I was wondering why I didn’t receive any tweets from you and I had a Twitter account. What I found out was that I had to go to my twitter account to see tweets sent by MikeHolt_NEC or I had to visit http://Twitter.com/MikeHolt_NEC to see all tweets sent by me.

Then I figured out that if I wanted to receive MikeHolt_NEC tweets directly to my cell phone, I just needed to login to my twitter account, click on “Setting” then “Devices” and then enter my cell phone number. Now I’m all good to go to learn more about the NEC. Thanks for this service on keeping us in the trenches informed.

Mike Holt’s Comment: If you would like to receive NEC tweets, please follow these instructions to sign up for an account, and follow MikeHolt_NEC:

Step 1: Click on the link https://twitter.com/signup to sign up for a Twitter account. Follow the steps to set up your account – enter your user name, password, and email address. Click on Create my account.

Step 2: Click on Skip this step to bypass “See if your friends are on Twitter”.

Step 3: Click on Skip this step (underneath the word Finish) to bypass the screen “Look who else is here”.

Step 4: From the bar at the top right of the screen, click on Find People

Step 5: In the Who are You Looking For window, enter MikeHolt_NEC and click on Search. The search results will appear on the screen. MikeHolt_NEC should be at the top (if it is not, scroll down the list till you find it).  Click on Follow.  A green check mark will appear, indicating that you are following. Don’t forget to click on “Setting” and then “Devices” and enter your mobile number so you can get your tweets on your cell phone.

  • While tweeting might be the greatest thing since sliced bread, I have little time or interest in social networking sites. I prefer to continue receiving the Mike Holt updates the old fashioned way, e-mail.

  • Twitter is a blocked web site at my company, which is a major electric utility. Messages sent out from that web site are also blocked as incoming.

Therefore, please send messages via standard E-Mail distribution lists.

  • I already have three (one business) e-mail accounts that I (or secretary) checks daily (or more often), I will not tweet, twitter, or face a book! If it don't come e-mail, it don't come! (grammarical error for emphasis).
