Arc Flash Hazards
Protect your employees from fire and injury

Image Here is a new pdf brochure on Arc Flash Hazards from Siemens. It was authored by engineers who are concerned about hazards and safety. The brochure was created to educate consulting engineers, electricians and business owners to the dangers of Arc Flash. This brochure explains what is an arc flash, highlights several codes, outlines steps to a safer workplace and recommends performing an arc flash study. It should be noted that NFPA 70E – 2009 will require equipment to be marked with available incident energy or required level of PPE.

The goal of this brochure is to save lives.

You can protect your employees, yourself and your customer’s employees from fire, injury and death, by performing a study, purchasing personal protection equipment (PPE) and using PPE when required. While it is recommended to work de-energized, it is not always feasible.  Working on energized equipment may be required when troubleshooting, diagnosing a system, or working on a continuous process segment.  In those cases, be properly suited.  The most accurate way to determine the appropriate PPE is to be suited per an up-to-date arc flash study.
