ImageWhat Is The National Electrical Code (NEC)?
Where Did It Come From?
How Long Has It Existed?

There is a very interesting website on the internet that chronicles the answers to the above questions and provides a detailed history of the origins of the NEC. Dating all the way back to the late 1800’s this makes for a very interesting read. Please take some time to check it out:

  • This is a link to an article by Art Cote, in the Fall 2008 edition of FPE Magazine, which is published by the SFPE: http://www.mikeholt.com/newsletters.php?action=display&letterID=628&email=james_nasby@csi.com#comments

Mr. Cote was with the NFPA for many years. This article delineates the history in more detail, and I believe is more authoratative.

    Best regards . . .
