Keeping up with the requirements of the Code should be the goal of
everyone involved in electrical safety. The following is what I feel is an
important rule in the 2023 NEC®, complete with

Electric ranges and clothes dryers are shipped from the factory with a bonding strap that bonds the metal frame of the appliance to the neutral termination of the cord connection terminal block.
For new installations, the Code requires an insulated neutral for ranges and dryers using a 4-wire cord so the bonding strap must be removed from the appliance in accordance with 250.140(A). If an existing 3-wire branch circuit is to supply a replacement appliance, the factory-installed bonding strap must remain in place in accordance with 250.140(B).‚
