Keeping up with the requirements of the Code should be the goal of
everyone involved in electrical safety. The following is what I feel is an
important rule in the 2023 NEC®, complete with
graphics and a video. I encourage you to use it as a training resource for
your organization, and share it with your colleagues.

In the 2023 National Electrical Code, a change was made to section 110.22 titled “Identification of Disconnecting Means” to add a additional safety requirement to the rule.
This change makes it clear that in other than one- or two-family dwellings disconnecting means identification must include the location of circuit source supplying the disconnect. The identification and location of the circuit source does not need to be marked on the disconnecting means if the identification and the location of the source is evident.
