I have been teaching for almost 50 years and I'm proud of the work I've done, and the impact I've had on the lives of my students. I know what it takes to succeed—to be the best you can be. You have the awesome responsibility of educating the next generation, and I want to share the experience and wisdom I've gained so that you too, can learn how to make a difference, and change lives. I trust that you'll find new and fresh ways to reach and engage your audience, and reexamine your commitment to education.
This series of videos will help you identify your strengths (and weaknesses) so you can maximize your abilities to convey your knowledge and experience to your students and become the best instructor you can be. - Be excited about teaching. How you dress and conduct yourself will give you an air of confidence. Fill the room with your enthusiasm - your students will feel the change in the dynamics of the room.
- Let them know something exciting is going to happen. Use your introductory slides to set up the mood and expectations.
- Your students will mirror your mood. But don't count totally on their body language for feedback - you don't know what they're going through personally.
- Nervousness is good for you. It activates adrenaline, which helps sharpen your thought process and helps you stay focused - especially if you're prepared.
