Free Harmonics Quiz - Industry Feedback Needed!

image

Right now, at Mike Holt Enterprises, we’re hard at work producing a new and improved version of our Harmonics textbook. This new textbook is titled Power Quality: Understanding Harmonics and Nonlinear Loads. We have 120 practice questions ready for inclusion in this new textbook and thought that it would be a great idea to get these questions out to all of you for some industry feedback before this book is finalized. And there’s no better way to review questions than to answer the questions yourself in the form of a quiz.

Please, take some time out of your busy schedules to log on and give these questions a shot. While doing so, let us know of any question you find to be misleading or confusing by clicking on the “Feedback” link located on each page of the quiz beside the question.

We’ve broken the questions into 4 quizzes for each of the 4 Units in this textbook. Simply click on the links below to begin:

Unit 1 – AC Theory Review

Unit 2 - Harmonics

Unit 3 - Harmonic Specific Problems and Equipment Failures

Unit 4 - Effects of Harmonics on Specific Electrical Equipment

  • I appreciate this type of material. it is very helpful, Thanks. Could #10 be more appropriately say "across" rather than "between" the lines of force? Is #13 correct? Doesnt frequency depend on the number of poles as well as the number of rotations?

  • I think question 34 , 35 and 45 are question not normally discussed in theory class in my opinion . The length of a iron core , I never heard of such a question , having a good iron core design is a good question , but we never discuss changing it's length., not something we can do in the field. better question amp turnes what are amps turns have to do with design of magnetic field John
