Keeping up with the requirements of the Code should be the goal of
everyone involved in electrical safety. The following is what I feel is an
important rule in the 2020 NEC®, complete with
graphics and a video. I encourage you to use it as a training resource for
your organization, and share it with your colleagues.

Air spaces above ceilings are often used as return air plenum spaces that transfer environmental air from the habitable spaces through the HVAC system and out to the building. If there is a fire, smoke and toxic fumes released by certain types of plastic insulation when they burn can produce toxic fumes that are drawn into the plenum return and spread throughout the buildings. To understand the importance of installing proper wiring methods in plenum spaces and ductwork, you need to know what they are and the dangers associated with the spread of smoke and toxic fumes.
Please read the attached article, then join Mike and the team as they discuss ducts, plenums, wiring methods, and installation considerations required by NEC section 300.22. For the video click here or on Mike's image to the right.
Be sure to download and follow the PDF exerpt from the textbook as you watch the video.
