Mike Holt Enterprises Understanding the NEC

Keeping up with the requirements of the Code should be the goal of everyone involved in electrical safety. The following is what I feel is an important rule in the 2020 NEC®, complete with graphics and a video. I encourage you to use it as a training resource for your organization, and share it with your colleagues.

A neutral is required by the NEC for switches controlling line-to-neutral loads at specific locations [404.2(C)]. Do you know when and if a neutral is required? No need to wonder or guess!

Take a few minutes to read the text and watch the video where Mike and the team discuss the Code requirements for when a neutral is required at switch locations.

For the video click here or on Mike's image to the right.

Be sure to download and follow the PDF exerpt from the textbook as you watch the video.

  • It looks like the pdf is of 404.4 instead of 404.2. Thank you for the information you send us.
