Keeping up with the requirements of the Code should be the goal of
everyone involved in electrical safety. Following is what I feel is an
important rule in the 2020 NEC®, complete with

Article 625, Electric Vehicle Power Transfer System, wait just a second, that’s not right! If you thought that this article title was ‘Electric Vehicle Charging System’ you’d be correct, it was just that! That was until the concept of bidirectional power transfer was included in the 2020 Code revision. Some Code changes may go unnoticed but others are pretty significant and demonstrate why it’s important to pay attention to the “Scope” of the articles in the NEC.
So, why the article title change? What does the scope of Article 625 [625.1] tell us about the need for this change and just what is “bidirectional power transfer” to and from an electric vehicle? Read the included text and take a little time from your day to watch the video as this re-titled article scope is explained by myself and a panel of experts so that you can understand just what necessitated this change to the Code.
