Port of Poulsbo Completes Electrical Upgrades to Guest Moorage

Three Sheets Northwest, has reported that the Port of Poulsbo has completed a major upgrade to its guest moorage electrical power systems, and in doing so, now complies with the National Electrical Code.

The guest moorage facilities at the popular Puget Sound destination have been outfitted with GFCI breakers to catch vessels putting out stray current. As a result, the marina says, you may experience difficulty connecting your boat to the power pedestal without the breaker tripping. If the breaker detects a difference of at lease 30 milliamps it will shut off the circuit. This is the new NEC standard which was established in an effort to curb in increase in Electric Shock Drowning (ESD).
