  • Call me a luddite but I didn't even have a landline until 1997. They make "hands free" phone technology. If you must, use it. I understand calling for directions or to let someone know your anticipated arrival time if early or late, but if you're in traffic, especially in town... Driving demands attention. I've smacked 4 deer, a dog (owners pulled over on side of highway to let fido roam in field rather than at the rest stop literally a mile up the road), and gotten into a pileup when the road turned from dry to black ice on the other side of the hill. "Accidents" don't give advanced warning of their coming. The less distracted you are, the more likely you are to avoid being in one.
