Call me a luddite but I didn't even have a landline until 1997. They make "hands free" phone technology. If you must, use it. I understand calling for directions or to let someone know your anticipated arrival time if early or late, but if you're in traffic, especially in town... Driving demands attention. I've smacked 4 deer, a dog (owners pulled over on side of highway to let fido roam in field rather than at the rest stop literally a mile up the road), and gotten into a pileup when the road turned from dry to black ice on the other side of the hill.
