Date: Wednesday, March 7

Time: 1:00 - 1:45 pm EST

Topic: 2011 National Electrical Code

This is our first official Online Facebook Show and we would love for you to participate. It's your chance to ask Mike Holt Code questions (must be submitted in advance) and get the answers live in your home or office.

We need to know the number of interested attendees. If you are interested in participating, please "Post a Comment" to this newsletter stating that you will attend and you can also post the question that you'd like Mike to answer.

Mike looks forward to visiting with you; this is another industry first, an event you don't want to miss. If there is interest, we'll do this monthly and add evening broadcasts for those who find it difficult to participate during the workday.

Here's How it Works:

  • Click on the yellow button below to Post a Comment to this newsletter with your name and Code question or if you prefer you can send it via email to Tara@MikeHolt.com
  • On March 7th , a few minutes before 1:00 (EST) go to http://www.facebook.com/mikeholtenterprises
  • Look for the tab in the left column titled 'Mike Holt Live Video Show' and click on it to begin viewing the live streaming. Settle in and get ready to watch Mike answer your Code questions.
  • Chat - You'll see the chat area located below the video. If you have a Facebook page you can chat with Mike and others watching the video stream while you watch. After 30 minutes Mike will also answer some questions submitted by chat.

  • My question concerns the vastly different requirements of NEC Table 220.12 (General Lighting Loads by Occupancy)and the current IECC Table 505.5.2 (Interior Lighting Power Requirements). Why do we have to size services and feeders according to the inflated values in NEC Table 220.12 while our state and local drawing review personnel require us only to demonstrate compliance with the values in IECC Table 505.5.2 (or a state or local amended version)? It seems the only beneficiaries of this situation are those who are selling copper and aluminum wires, conduits and distribution gear.

  • Another great service by Mike Holt to the electrical industry.Thank you Mike.I have your 2 DVDs regarding PV systems, and have learned a lot from them and also the text book.I am a inspector in two small towns.PV systems are being installed in older homes where the existing service and its ges are not code compliant to present codes because of code changes and just plain wear and tear since they were first installed It is my opinion that the installer is creating or adding to a violation by connecting to such a service and its ges, unless it is brought up to the NEC. being unforced at the time of the installation. Am I correct?
