What can we do better?

We’re well on our way into the 2005 Code cycle and it’s time to start preparing for the 2008 Code cycle! We’ve already received valuable feedback on our 2005 products, and, as always, we take everything into consideration. We at Mike Holt Enterprises, Inc. are never satisfied with past accomplishments and we’re constantly looking for ways to improve.

Your help is needed! Please let us know what we can do to improve our products so that they’re better than ever. Let Tara Moffit know how we can improve our textbooks, workbooks, answer keys, PowerPoint, DVDs, VHS, Website, shopping cart, etc. The more specifics you can provide the better.

Send your suggestions directly to Tara@MikeHolt.com and she’ll be sure that each and every one of your suggestions is brought up and considered for the next Code cycle.

Thank you for helping me to help you.

God Bless,

Mike Holt

  • Mike,I have long pending text book questions such as what is the reason behind the NEC definition of lighting and appliance panel? Why a panel purely serving lighting loads should sometimes be classed as power panel based on above definition? What safety aspects are compromised otherwise?Incorporating answers to such questions can make your text books still more enlightening.

  • It would be great if you could possibly provide some on-line low-cost Continuing Ed hours for electrical PE's. I bet I spend an hour a month reading code & technical issues on your web site; could you get the PE boards to accept that? Heck, that's 12 hours a year. Most boards only require 15 PDH per year, or 30 per biennial renewal. You are doing a great job. Thanks!

  • I was driven away from this forum because I was riducled with an answer that I had given. I am an ex-electrician, ex-contractor, ex-NEC instructor for the Community College and ex president of the local union of wiremen. I am sixty three years and now a scientist for BP. I would like to have this forum grade the capability of the participants as to what knowledge they have before they pipe up. I will not participate until knowlegeable forum members can explain where there coming from. Peoople with two years of knowledge should not be piping up.

  • Mike,

I am an electrical instructor who teaches 4 year apprentices who will be taking their exams soon. Our classes are two evenings a week for three hours. I give them 15 code questions and 15 practical/theory questions to do each class and then we go over the answers after about an hour. I ask them to pass in an answer sheet for me to correct for grading purposes, prior to going over the questions and answers. What I need, is a questions and answers book that can give me the questions I need but I want them mixed up, not all of one article or subject at a time. In other words, we use this as practice for taking the exam and getting used to looking up in the code. Unfortunately, your book is article by article. I currently use Tom Henry's book but the practical questions are not in line with what we really need. I used to use Phil Perrone's book prior to his death. Your ideas would be appreciated?

  • Personal message to Derwith Carlson: I sent you a separate email message, asking you to contact me concerning the unkind reception you received, according to your comment below. I am the Chief Moderator of the Forum, and would like to investigate your allegation. Please log onto the Forum, and send me a Private Message. You can find me by searching for "member 27," or by opening any thread (I'd suggest in the Engineering or NEC topic areas) and looking for a comment by "Charlie B."
