  • VERO BEACH — A man shocked last month while handling an air machine pump was upgraded to serious condition this week, a hospital spokeswoman for Indian River Medical Center said Thursday.

    Joseph M. Lochetto, 54, of the 900 block of 19th Street, Vero Beach, was hospitalized after the Aug. 16 incident at the 7-Eleven in the 2200 block of U.S. 1. The police report attributed the shock to a faulty ground wire in the machine. Police are not investigating the incident as a criminal matter.
