Home Sweet Home

Here are some images of a high voltage gopher home. These pictures are from Mt. Pleasant, TX (just west of Texarkana). The dirt on the ground is what fell out when they opened the door.

  • WOW!!! How long did it take to build up all that dirt?

I'm curious to know- did the dirt interfere with any electrical problems in or around the house???

...don't mess with Texas, or their gophers, I suppose...

  • That dirt had to come from somewhere. It is a wonder that the transformer pad, or something else nearby did not sink into the ground.

  • Texas Fire Ants can be the same size as a gopher, it wouldnt take em long to build a hive this size and they are attracted to the EMF. Larger West Texas Jackelopes have been known to short out overhead lines with their antlers. EVERYTHINGS BIGGER IN TEXAS

  • More likely to have been ants than gophers. This is not an unusual scenario in either transformer or high voltage switchgear cabinetry.

  • This is not an uncommon scenario by any means in South Florida. We witnessed this many times when working with FPL. You can't seal the pad and conduits tight enough to prevent this from occuring
