  • And one photo is of a safe procedure.

In fact....I've had to perform the procedure twice in past years.

Bet nobody can guess which one.

  • If it were not so pathetic, it would make for great comedy. How fortunate we are to live and work within a society that values human life and holds to our creators' mind set of the nobility of life.

  • Reminds me of a guy, on a 10ft alum. ladder right next to the spa I was relaxing in, vaccuming ceiling tiles.

I got out of the spa and asked if the recept he was using was GFCI protected, and he said HUNH??. I found the recept was not protected and unpluged the cord. He threw a fit and called his manager, who also blew me off.

I got dressed and called the AHJ, and the fire dept, who arrived a little later, cited them and explained why.

  • People may complain about too much government regulation, but what I'm looking forward to in the near future is a United Nations Occupational Safety and Health Administration with the power to jail bosses who put their people in danger for no reason but boosting already bloated profits! No doubt so are a few of the men in the photos, who obviously did what little that they could do to protect themselves. The safety training, hard hats, respirators, eye protection, safety shoes, heavy equipment, etc. etc. not provided in Third World nations has added up to big profits for a few. Don't think it can't get this bad here in the USA. Unregulated capitalism is a competitive race to the bottom for safety standards, etc. If you laughed at the poor souls in these photos, you'd better take hold of prejudices. Will you laugh when it is your grandson or granddaughter in working conditions like these? Maybe some of the photos were taken in the former Motor City, Detroit!

  • I don't see what the big deal is with #5, the guy IS using a double-insulated drill!

I wish there was a way we could submit images, I have a few I would like to share.

  • Really funny. At least the "electrician" had safety goggles on! The bare feet make a nice touch too. I like the guy standing with the biological team too.

  • And some people's attitude towards rotting wiring is that they are better off to have a fire so that their insurance company will build them a new building.

I am going to have to send this PPT file to Dad. He one time sent me a photo of how utility wiring in India gets done - just an absolutely expletive mess. And these are the kind of people who are taking electrical engineering and computer programming jobs from red blooded Americans by means of the H-1B Visa Scam.

  • The luggage handlers picture, #13, is actually a photo of the Sacramento (CA) airport baggage claim area. This baggage cart and stack of luggage was a piece of art commissioned by the airport when the new terminal was built. There are two other carts built just like it, and all the luggage is bolted together. On one, there is actually a fire alarm annunciator, since the whole stack is fastened to a vertical support beam where the annunciator would normally sit.
