Well, I guess Mike is human once again. Or is he still correct? Who knows. I'll tell you guys one thing, I perform electrical work for a living. I have no problem sleeping, so I guess I don't need one anyhow. Keith Prendergast Reply to this comment |
how about living in a farraday cage what a safe world in would be. At least form lightning or electrocution. pete Reply to this comment |
Remember copper bracelets people wore for arthritis and how it turned their wrist green? With this miracle devise (copper woven sheet), can we expect to see people walking around during the day looking like a green waffle? John R Moses Reply to this comment |
Take heart Mike, you may not be wrong. The study that was done was not scientific. It was also very small. I'm still looking for a scientific study that supports the claims. Lisa C. Reply to this comment |
Great article! How far must the Earthing electrode be insatalled from my grounding electrode system? And how far into the ground must the Earthing rod be driven?
Your articles are very informative and most appreciated.
Thank you,

My wife and I have been using a conductive sheet/pad for 6 months with great success. Visit http://www.lessemf.com/personal.html and scroll down to the bottom of the page. - 1/4 the price of the one mokes link sends you to.

This is as good as when my wife was going to some quack for allergies. He would have her hold a "bottle of essense" of what ever she was allergic to and do a breathing exercise, then, presto-chango she was "cured". All for 45 bucks a crack. According to him, she was "allergic" to 459 different things. That lasted three treatments. As with all things, "FOLLOW THE MONEY". Thanks for the humor, I always can use a good laugh. I'm truly having a wonderful time reading many of the hilarious comments on this. I love a good laugh. Thank you Linda for once again being "right!" Thank you Mike for sharing her "rightness" with us all! :) Toni Culbreath Reply to this comment |
Somehow the wives always win.
Do you think we'll see any proposals to the NEC? Will this require a new definition of a bedroom? What of arc fault? As if things aren't complicated already. :)

Twelve persons with an opinion do not make a study. Let me know the results after hundreds (maybe even thousands) of people participate in a verifiable double-blind study.
Has anyone done a similiar "study" on the cortisol levels of workers in the semi-conductor industry, where their bodies are grounded all day to prevent the build-up of static electricity?
There is a name for people who are not naturally skeptical about any unusual (and unverifiable) claims - they are called fools. Except when it's my wife - then I diplomatically reply, "That's an interesting idea, Dear, but I, personally, doubt its validity." Gerry Carroll Reply to this comment |
I still get bonding and grounding confused - grounding is to the Earth and bonding is to my spouse, right? David Reply to this comment |

Ok, Mike...
If I'm going to attach a ground wire to my wife, since this effect is most useful on females, what size breaker should I use?

I hope NFPA doesn’t get involved with this.

Shouldn’t this be bonded to the main ground?
What if lightning hits the tree?
Thanks for the smile today.

One study on 12 subjects who knew what was bein tested and what the suposed results were, and with no control group, does not go very far in convincing me. Vic Reply to this comment |
Hey, Mike!
Are you sure you want to have the folks in Florida thinking they might want to try this?
With all the hubaloo about how lighting strikes here affect the copper piping in homes, due to a home's earth ground being connected to the plumbing, what kind of stinging sensation might one feel if lying on a copper mattress pad that's grounded?
Lemme see.... ....?!

Would the grounding of the body to earth, during a lighting storm be a possible hazard? HAZ Reply to this comment |
that's pseudo-science: only 12 subjects, no control group, no independent confirmation or supervision, donations, the list goes on... Carlos Leite Reply to this comment |
Only twelve subjects? Was there a control group? What about having half the subjects sleep on non-grounded metallic mattresses to address a possible placebo or other effect? I realize it's just an abstract - not the whole paper, and it is a promising result; but it doesn't seem strong enough by itself to warrant a conclusion. Suzanne Reply to this comment |
I only had time to scan the study, but it appears to be PROFOUNDLY flawed. Where is the control group? Furthermore, studies involving physiological response should always be blind (or double blind) if at all possible to eleminate any placebo effect. The study is interesting, but these two factors render the data worthless. The study should be redone with better controls. W. Thomas Smith Reply to this comment |

I wish they had done a double blind study with some subjects grounded and others not grounded. That would be a well grounded study. Groundbreaking, you might say. Otherwise, it's a faulty research project. Walter Sydoriak Reply to this comment |
My bed is grounded to a driven rod and I sleep with #8 bonding jumpers on my wrists and ankles. I sleep very well, thank you. Romex Racer Reply to this comment |
Interesting, but have there been follow-up studies by other researchers with a larger group and manipulation of variables? I notice the study is several years old and if it were valid there ought to be ongoing or completed research to compare this too. I hate to be a skeptic, but I have seen hundreds of "studies" in alternative medicine that don't hold up under further scrutiny, so coming to any sort of conclusion based on this one example is a bit premature. IMHO, of course. Daniel Smith Reply to this comment |
I wonder how that works when lighting strikes or unintentional contact with higher voltage wires takes place! Bill Bamford Reply to this comment |
If this was a blind study, what were the results of the group that weren't actually grounded? Fred Madden Reply to this comment |
