  • Mike: I'm visiting Peru (Lima & Puno) South America, by the way. I would your permission to use your lecture on “grounding vs. bonding” (I will translate it into Spanish) so I can included as part of my presentation on Lightning Protection. In Peru many electrical engineers are still convince that driving ground rods beside motor and other electrical equipment will safe people’s life or protect equipment from ground faults. By the way. It is a good practice in lightning protection (NFPA-780), to drive a ground rod beside light poles, to dissipate the lightning current into the ground. In conjunction, with an air terminal, it’ll prevent a light fixture, to be busted by lightning.
